This is the third of the 2019 series of Webinars hosted by the Appita Young Professionals Network.
Mentoring is a two-way relationship with the goal of professional and personal development. This webinar will cover some aspects of the mentoring relationship that will help both mentees, who the webinar is aimed at, and mentors, get the most from their relationship. Mentees need to be sure they are ready for such a relationship and there are a few simple questions to reflect on to make sure you are ready to seek a mentor. Your mind-set is important and so we will dwell on this as well as clarifying what a mentor is, and is not. She / he is not your boss, coach, sponsor or teacher. The webinar will tell you what to expect in this relationship so you are well prepared. Mentors are typically busy, experienced but understanding enough to be willing to share their time and reinvest in the future – the mentee. So we will discuss how to maximise the benefit of this special relationship.
Some other topics to be touched on include identifying the right mentor for you, some self-assessment questions, what the mentoring agreement is and some tips on structuring the mentoring sessions. Another topic will be the action plan, and why it helps. The mentor – mentee relationship goes through phases so it’s good to be clear on the responsibilities of both parties. It’s also helpful to have some good conversation starters and you might be able to add a few yourselves on-line. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion at the end. So please join us for a potentially helpful and fun webinar.
