Our History Vision and Mission
“
The Bioresource Processing Institute of Australia (BioPRIA) is an institute engaged in supporting new industries and transforming established ones through education and research. Located within the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Monash University, BioPRIA is the offspring of the Australian Pulp and Paper Institute (APPI), which was established in 1989. We are arguably the oldest Institute at Monash University

_______________________________________ Our Vision
To foster the migration of the Australian Bioresource Manufacturing – including the pulp and paper industry- into sustainable biorefineries and producers of high-value bio-products.
Research contributes and drives innovation to develop high-value products that complement and extend the value of existing lignocellulosic resources by resolving high impact and strategic problems.
Training empowers engineers and scientists leaders to improve competitiveness by improving product quality and process efficiency (cut cost) while promoting receptivity to innovation: new technology, new methods and new products.
To develop a competitive Australasian green economy and Foster its social acceptance.
To align BioPRIA’s eight research platforms to resolve high impact, trans disciplinary projects and important challenges relevant to industry and society.
To develop value chains combining all the complementary industrial partners in the supply chains and the required scientific technical expertise.
