Dr. Sara Baricella completed her PhD in 2024 in Chemical and Biological Engineering, Monash University.

Thesis Title: Bioinspired and biomimetic membranes for enzyme reactions

Supervisors: Prof. Gil Garnier and A/Prof. Victoria Haritos, Benny Freeman

Employment: Postdoctoral Researcher-Novonesis Copenhagen, Denmark

Sara completed her Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Chemistry in 2013 at Federico II University of Naples (Italy), where she also received a Master’s degree in Science and Technology of Industrial Chemistry in 2015. She worked as analytical chemist in a water testing lab, prior commencing her PhD under the supervision of Prof. Gil Garnier and A/Prof. Victoria Haritos. Sara’s PhD project aimed at designing enzymatic tandem reactions in nanofiltration/ultrafiltration membranes for the production of valuable chemicals. The project, which harnesses the potential of separation and biocatalysis, was in collaboration with the ARC-EESep.
